The Del Mar Oaks is a Grade I race that was first started in 1957 and it usually takes place during the middle of July or August. It is run over nine furlongs and is open to three-year-old fillies. There is a prize purse of $300,000 and it has been classified as a Grade 1 race since 1994. The distance of the race has varied over the years.
