The Flying Fillies’ Stakes takes place in August every year and it has been running since 1998. It is a Listed flat race at Pontefract Racecourse in England.
It takes place over six furlongs on the left-handed track, with horses that are at least three years old being able to enter. There is a handicap system in place and the prize purse is £40,000.
To date, no horse has managed to win the Flying Fillies’ Stakes on multiple occasions, with three jockeys and two trainers having won the Flying Fillies’ Stakes on two occasions over the years.
The only time since 1998 that the race has not taken place was in 2009, with the 2020 renewal going ahead despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The latest renewal was won by three-year-old Stormy Girl, with jockey Cam Hardie getting his mount home in record time for this race, getting past the winning post in 1:13:87.
