On the same stunning card as the Belmont Stakes in New York, the Triple Crown finale in early June is another huge Grade I event; the Just A Game Stakes.
Staged on the turf track for the older fillies and mares over a distance of one mile, the Just A Game carries a purse of $700,000 and is named after the brilliant ex-Irish mare who came to the States in 1980 and ultimately won the Eclipse Award.
The Just A Game was added to the racing calendar in 1994 and has proven itself as a quality event, was given its top-level status in 2008. It has been won over the years by Perfect Sting, License Fee, Intercontinental, Ventura, Tapitsfly, Stephanie’s Kitten and Tepin who all very much made their mark on the racing scene.
