Taking place on a busy Saturday every year in early March, Lady Wulfruna Day is Wolverhampton’s most important all-weather fixture of the year.
The feature race is the Lady Wulfruna Stakes, a Listed event worth £50,000 over seven furlongs and it is backed up by a host of other great events.
The Lincoln Trial Handicap, another £50,000 race, is indeed an important stepping stone to the first major betting race of the year at Doncaster and marks the start of this day, before a Class 2 six-furlong handicap, novice stakes and handicaps over five furlongs, seven furlongs and a mile-and-a-quarter are all run.
The Lady Wulfruna Stakes itself has been won in previous years by decent types such as Air Mail, Border Music, Dunelight and Above The Rest who had previously taken the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle on the same Tapeta surface.
