Powered by state-of-the-art software from NextGen, A Dragon’s Story is a colourful five-reeler with 25 set-in-stone Paylines, inspired, as the title suggests, by the legendary beasts. And, when you think about it, dragons make an excellent theme for a video slot!
In this offering, the cartoonish red dragon (otherwise known as Ruff) is more friendly than fierce, but he does keep his hoard pretty close to his fire-breathing chest. And you’ll still have to be quick off the mark if you want to leave his lair alive.
Look forward to free spins and other bonus features in this fun, exciting game, played out against a backdrop of the dragon to the right of the reels eyeing his gold in the cave, which he is trying to keep safe from that greedy thief Sir William!
You’ll receive prizes for retrieving stolen gold, burnt armour and Sir William himself, and there should be enough extras to keep you engaged. Prefer to play on the move? This game is fully available on mobile.
How to play
Line up between three and five of the same icons to bag between five and 200x your wager. Line bet is from 0.01 coins to two coins, and you can play from 25p a spin, so there’s no need to get your fingers burnt if you prefer to play with a more modest outlay. (Although you can also play for up to £50 a pop if you’re feeling lucky.)
A Dragon’s Story special features
The dragon himself serves as your Wild, replacing all icons bar the Scatter. The jewels are the Scatter, and they activate the bonus round when you land a hat-trick of them. Scatters can multiply your total bet by up to 2,500x.
Symbols are, naturally enough, all related to the theme and include Sir William, a collection of gold, a shield and a burning shoe. Meanwhile, the lower values are the standard 9, 10, J, Q, K and A playing-card symbols.
Necklace of free spins
All wins are doubled in this round, and you need three jewel Scatters anywhere on the reels to play. You’ll enjoy 10 free whirls and it’s also possible to retrigger the feature, with a potential yield of up to a score of free pops.
If you play while the SuperBet feature is active (see below), more Wilds are added to those particular reels.
Brave Sir William bonus feature
After any winning spin, this round can be randomly activated, causing ‘brave’ Sir William to enter the dragon’s lair in a bid to nab his riches. Choose a fireball to breathe on the hapless knight – the more treasure he drops, the greater your cash reward. Up to 1,250x stake is up for grabs, and, what’s more, this round launches pretty regularly.
You can choose to gamble any win in this game by hitting the hearts/clubs button beneath the reels. Guess the suit or colour of the next card to double or even quadruple your winnings.
This optional extra feature enhances some reels, and you can play it according to your budget. Essentially, it just boosts the chances of the dragon adding some Wilds to the reels on every spin. Bet 50 coins to enhance all five reels, 35 to enhance Reels 2 through 4, and 25 to enhance Reel 3.
Return to Player (RTP)
In medium-variance, A Dragon’s Story, Return to Player or RTP is 95.22% or thereabouts, so it’s pretty average.
With some hugely fun characters and graphics plus a genuinely great storyline, A Dragon’s Story also offers some good bonuses and excellent payouts, not least in its bonus features. So there’s lots to like about this quirky game. In fact, if you’ll forgive the pun, we’d go as far to say it’s on fire!
