Description
As its name suggests, 2017’s Blood Suckers II from NetEnt is the sequel to the original 2013 game, and it’s played over the standard five reels with three rows, across 25 Paylines. Enjoy the brilliant design – and listen out for the suitably creepy background music!
It’s based on a vampire, Amilia, who returns to the vampiric castle to claim the concealed treasures of her ancestors, whom vampire hunters murdered years previously. And it’s set in some sort of dark ceremonial room, all in sumptuous 3D.
How to play
Spin away on your device of choice, from 25p a go right up to a super-high-rolling £250 a pop. All the usual Max Bet, Autoplay and similar functions are here. The spin button, labelled Rubin, sets the reels in motion.
Among the symbols on the reels are exquisitely designed vampire hunters and demons, while even the lesser-paying playing-card values are gorgeously done. The red hunter is the most rewarding among the regular icons, at 20x wager for five on one line.
Special features
Special symbols
Blood Suckers II has Wild, Scatter and bonus symbols, with the former replacing all icons bar the latter two. Land five Wilds on a Payline and you’re in line for a hefty payday of 400x stake.
Bonus features
Free spins
This is pretty much the main event in this game. Launch it with a trio or more of Scatters anyplace you like on three reels and enjoy 10 freebies with a triple multiplier chucked in.
Scoop a further hat-trick of Scatters on a single spin for a further 10 wager-free whirls.
In keeping with the theme, here they’re called Blood Rose free spins.
Hidden Treasure bonus round
Get at least three bonus icons on consecutive reels to, er, reel this one in! It’s basically a pick-and-click job, in which you decide which chests and coffins to open to reveal their bounty of Scatter icons, coin wins, a demon or a key.
The key takes you up through five different levels. Find it on the last level for an extra coin win of 40x original wager. Outlast the demon to the last level and your coin win is a whopping 670x original stake. However, if you reveal the demon on any other level, it’s game over and back to the base screen.
And, by the way, coin wins here are doubled and tripled if you triggered the round with four or five bonus symbols respectively.
Two more random perks
The following crop up at random during the base game:
- Bonus shot: This adds a random extra overlay bonus to cover Reels 1 through 3. Rake in a bigger coin haul if it occurs on a winning Payline.
- Scatter shot: When two Scatters display, i.e. you need one more to initiate free spins, this perk adds the relevant missing icon.
Jackpot
Unfortunately, you won’t find a progressive jackpot in Blood Suckers II.
Return to Player (RTP)
You’ll find variance on the higher side of medium here, within an eminently reasonable RTP or Return to Player of 96.94%.
Verdict
This game is visually superb and is certainly graphically an improvement on its predecessor, while also offering a lot in the way of bonus features.
So it’s perhaps not surprising that more than one reviewer has placed it head and shoulders above its predecessor. It’s also dripping with atmosphere and presents an engaging storyline.
What’s more, it’s potentially highly lucrative, too.
