Description
Raven’s Eye is a 30-Payline five-reeler from Scandi developer Thunderkick, played over four rows. With a Celtic theme, it’s set deep in a magical forest, complete with gently swaying vines and fireflies, while the highlight is the mysterious druid and her magic raven and supernatural powers.
Its overall look isn’t perhaps as colourful as this games creator’s offerings usually are. But with mystery symbols and a cracking bonus round, there’s certainly everything to play for.
Reels are set within a Celtic tomb with a castle and woods in the distance. You may also enjoy the rather chilled background music, which includes chirping birds.
How to play
Play Raven’s Eye from as little as 10p a pop across all devices, mobile or otherwise, or for up to £100 a go if you’re feeling lucky. Set your bets in the normal way and set the reels to turn automatically using Autoplay if you wish.
Among the dozen symbols are the usual A, K, Q, J and 10 values, admittedly looking very ornate here, alongside a quartet of symbols encompassing the four elements – air, earth, fire and water. The highest-value symbol is the female druid character, paying up to 12.5x stake for five.
Raven’s Eye special features
Special symbols
The Wild replaces all symbols save the Scatter to create winning combos, and gives the same payouts as the druid symbol. (It’s the letter W in a gold ring with a green background.)
The raven symbol serves as the Scatter.
Raven Mystery symbols
The raven icon converts into a random symbol after landing and can display as stacked on the reels. The Wild is among the symbols it could become. Essentially, this concept potentially increases your winnings.
All these mystery icons will always be replaced by the same symbol type.
Free spins bonus game
Launch this when you land Raven Mystery symbols on at least three of the reels. The number of spins you receive is worked out according to the number of mystery icons which triggered the round. However, the minimum number is nine.
Fill the symbol meter you’ll see on your screen with Raven Orbs – once you’ve done that, you’ll get three extra free goes. As it fills, a low-paying symbol becomes a mystery one for the rest of the bonus game. It’s possible to retrigger the feature up to five times so that 25 free spins in all are up for grabs.
Progressive jackpot
As ever with Thunderkick titles, there’s no progressive jackpot to be found in Raven’s Eye.
Return to Player (RTP)
Variance on Raven’s Eye is low to medium. You can win up to seven times stake relatively easily, but you may well find you rely on the bonus game for the bigger payouts. As is typical with Thunderkick slots, there’s a standard RTP or Return for Player here of 96.1%.
Verdict
This game has generally been welcomed by industry reviewers, although one or two have described the visuals as rather basic. It may not be ideal for you if you’d rather play something with higher volatility.
But while payouts are admittedly on the comparatively low side, it’s a fun, entertaining and solidly presented affair with some interesting gameplay and a couple of innovative features thrown in.
