Presented over a standard five-reel, three-row format with 11 Paylines which shell out in both directions, Toki Time Slot is powered by Thunderkick and was first launched in 2014. It’s inspired by the cute and colourful animated mini-monsters which come from Japanese console games of the ‘90s, and which appear on-screen with each spin.
The background is a kids’ picture-book scene of green hills below a slow-moving sky, whose colours shift from dark to light and then back again. (So, for example, you’ll see things like a small stone house that lights up in the dark.) The game is set to an uplifting, friendly backing track that, we feel it only fair to warn you, you’ll either love or loathe!
It’s one of the simpler games around, with no free spins feature. Instead, this offering is all about the expanding Wilds.

How to play
As usual with Thunderkick slots, you can play for anywhere between 10p and £100 a slot, on a platform or device of your choice.
Thunderkick likes its graphics to be original, and here the Tokis appear popping out of the ground to fill up the spaces on the reels.
There are eight symbols in all. The lowest-paying is the yellow Toki at 2x stake for five of a kind, while the biggest earner is the pink version, which shells out 6x wager for five on a Payline. Tokis also come in purple, green and blue.
Meanwhile, an icon with a cloud and rainbow pays out at 12x, while the rainbow and sun symbol is worth 24x stake.
Remember that Paylines also pay both ways, i.e. left to right and vice versa.
Toki Time Slot special features
The Wild is the sheep-like creature in Toki Time Slot, and the main perk here is the expanding Wild feature, as described below.
This is the main event in this slot. Should you land an expanding Wild (sheep icon) on either or both of Reels 2 and 4 to create a winning combo, it remains in place for consecutive respins, which carry on until they no longer win.
Return to Player (RTP)
Toki Time Slot has a Return to Player that’s slightly above average for Thunderkick, at 97.1%, and the operator classes it as a medium-volatility game. That means you can look forward to reasonably smooth and regular payouts, while the hit frequency is almost one in four (24.6%).
Equally, it’s possible to win as many as 2,400 coins from just one spin here.
The simplicity of this game means it may not be for you if you like your games to have lots of bells and whistles and snazzy features. But there are some gorgeous animations and great artwork to be enjoyed here. Toki Time Slot is good fun, and there’s a reasonable chance of some decent winnings. Equally, its minimalism may improve your focus on playing.
Admittedly, the cutesy, bright feel won’t be for everyone, especially players who prefer games with a darker vibe. It may not even represent the pinnacle of Thunderkick’s achievements. But Toki Time® is deceptively addictive, with speedy gameplay and no shortage of action.
