Vikings Go to Hell Slot is the third in Yggdrasil Gaming’s series of slots inspired by the Norse raiders. It follows popular games Vikings Go Berzerk and Vikings Go Wild. Play this 2018 release across five reels, four rows and 25 Paylines.
The game is all about Vikings battling it out with Demons. And its hellish backdrop is ablaze with red-hot flames – as ever with this operator, the visuals are superb.
How to play
Spin away from 10p a pop up to £100 per spin on your device of choice. Win for landing three-of-a-kind icons on a Payline, working from left to right.
On the reels, you’ll see four weapon icons and four Viking ones.
Vikings Go to Hell Slot special features
As ever, there’s a Wild replacing standard symbols and a free spins emblem. Additionally, a treasure chest symbol can rock up on Reel 5 containing various goodies.
Collect ‘rage’ points on each spin or when you kill a demon, a battle triggered when you land a pair of free spins icons. Get one point for a Viking win – the Viking turns Wild at the same time.
As you start to play, you’ll receive 150 points towards one Viking.
Gather points for each character – the total is displayed at the left of the screen. Receive seven free goes when you have 300 points for any particular character.
You can also earn these points from the treasure chest feature, and they’re saved following each session, so they’re there where you next play.
Scoop at least two free spins icons in the main game to launch a respin with sticky Wilds.
Land one of these on Reel 5 to win a Good or Epic Tablet and enjoy one of the following rewards:
- 60 rage points for a Viking
- 60 points for the full four
- Cash bonus: 60 – 120x stake
- 12 to 16 free whirls
- Seven free goes
- 60 rage points for a Viking
- Cash bonus: from 15 – 30x stake
In Vikings Go to Hell Slot, you’ll find this is more involved than other slots:
Land three free spins symbols to launch this, or one in the treasure chest feature. Win seven freebies for three icons, 12 for four and 16 for five.
Land a Viking in this round and it will take on a demon. If it’s victorious, it becomes a sticky Wild plus you win a rage point.
After every spin, if a Viking is around he fights the Lord of the Chains, reducing this lord’s ‘health bar’ by one if he wins. Equally, again the Viking becomes a sticky Wild.
Defeat the Lord of the Chains thrice to overcome him completely and scoop a further two freebies, a pair of additional random Wilds plus guaranteed victory when the Vikings next tackle their demons.
Berzerk free goes mode
Collect 300 rage points for any Viking to activate this – your ‘Berzerk’ Viking will automatically vanquish demons.
Level 2 free spins
This gives you an extra seven free whirls, any Viking who’s Berzerk stays that way, and at the end of the round, a Viking is selected for an epic showdown with Lucifix. The latter has a trip of health points, losing one in the event of each defeat by a Viking. A win also makes the Viking a sticky Wild while adding two other sticky Wilds.
At the same time, a 3x multiplier applies for the whole round, while Vikings are then guaranteed to win.
Finally, just as in the main game, the treasure chest can show up on Reel 5 in free spins, and release tablets offering various rewards including Wilds and extra whirls.
There’s no progressive jackpot here. Instead, the top win is 3,000x stake or, if playing at max bet level, €687,500.
Return to Player (RTP)
With RTP slightly below average at 96.1%, variance lies on the higher side of medium.
Vikings Go to Hell Slot showcases Yggdrasil’s outstanding design skills, with a quality that’s almost cinematic, and this exciting offering boasts multiple features. It sounds amazing, too, while features from previous Viking games have been enhanced, leading one reviewer to describe the game as this operator’s best Viking-inspired offering yet.
There’s certainly a lot going on, so newer players may prefer to choose something else. But persist and you should find it’s one hell of a game!
