The Ascot Racecourse Chase is a Grade 1 race that allows horses that are at least five years old to enter.
It takes place over two miles and five furlongs, with seventeen fences in total having to be negotiated. It normally takes place in February, having first taken place in 1995 when it was called the Comet Chase. The race was temporarily moved to Lingfield Park due to renovations at Ascot Racecourse.
It has been taking place on the Saturday of the race meeting since 1999. Four horses have managed to win the Ascot Chase on two different occasions.
They are Tiutchev, Monet’s Garden, Riverside Theatre and Cue Card. Barry Geraghty holds the most wins in this race as a jockey, has been the winning three times, with Martin Pipe being the leading trainer with four wins.
