The British Champions Long Distance Cup is a Group 2 race that allows thoroughbreds of at least three years old to enter.

It takes place over one mile and seven furlongs at Ascot, with it being a part of the British Champions Day each October. It was first run in 1873 at Newmarket when it was called the Jockey Club Cup. The distance has been changed a number of times over the years, settling on its current distance in 1963.

There is a handicap system in place, with the prize usually being around half a million pounds mark. It was in 2011 that the British Champions Long Distance Cup was moved to Ascot, with it being the long-distance final of the British Champions Series. It was upgraded to a Group 2 race in 2014.

Further Flight holds the record for the most British Champions Long Distance Cup wins, having won it on five successive occasions starting in 1991. The trainer of Further Flight was Barry Hills who also trained the winning horse in 1999 and 2010.
