Quickspin Software

Quickspin Software

Established in October 2011, the game development studio Quickspin is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Yet, as a multinational, it draws its workforce from all over the globe – and it has additional offices in Malta and Kiev.

The company’s games are licenced by both the UK Gambling Commission and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, providing reassurance of a dedication to fair gaming, with random number generation, and a responsible approach to potential problem gambling.

Quickspin was launched by a small, but committed team of just three slot-loving friends, including CEOs Mats Westerlund and Daniel Lindberg. Since then, it has expanded into a formidable team incorporating scores of employees from a host of different countries.

The company's ethos centres on its genuine affection for slots, evident in all its games, and this is the company’s primary focus. Its motto? ‘We love slots!’ Quickspin aims to produce products its developers want to enjoy themselves and to prioritise players.

We wanted to shake things up a bit by creating the innovative and high-quality slots we felt were missing in the marketplace. We believed in doing things a bit differently.

Since May 2016, the game studio has operated as a subsidiary of gaming titan Playtech PLC, a software supplier trading on the London Stock Exchange.

Quickspin slots have their own distinct style, with the emphasis firmly on fun and remarkably original graphics. The games tend to be exceedingly playful, often with cartoon-style animations, while there’s also a fondness for themes inspired by fairy tales.

Products are available to play at dozens of leading online casinos, for real money or for free. This provider also provides 24/7 client support.

Industry awards

Since the business was launched, Quickspin has been nominated for or won a number of industry awards, probably rather more than one would expect given its relative newness as a business. Here are some of them:

  1. Rising Star Award – 2014 EGR B2B Awards
  2. Game of the Year Award (for Big Bad Wolf) – 2013 EGR B2B Awards; Sakura Fortune shortlisted, 2017
  3. Innovation in Random Number Generator (RNG) Casino Software – EGR B2B Awards 2016; nominated again in 2019
  4. Innovation in Slot Provision – Nominated EGR B2B Awards 2019
  5. Best Slot Provider – Nominated EGR B2B Awards 2019

Quickspin has also been nominated for a number of other awards in recent years, including:

  • Best Game Provider – 2022 EGR Operator Awards
  • Best Mobile Game Provider – 2022 EGR Operator Awards
  • Best Slot Provider – 2022 International Gaming Awards
  • Best Mobile Slot Provider – 2022 International Gaming Awards

Quickspin games

Clearly, not all players adore all of this operator’s offerings all of the time. But we’d hazard a guess that most committed slots fans like or at least have tried some Quickspin games. And that’s no mean feat given the relatively low number of releases since the business began.

Quickspin slots encompass dozens of international currencies and languages, and they’re playable across all devices, mobile or otherwise, including iOS, Android and Windows. Most games have been updated to Flash and HTML 5, and these are used for all new releases.

Each slot has six unique ‘game events’.

Games range from simple yet effectively designed classics to those with a slightly more complicated theme. There‘s a focus on adventure, strong narratives and immersive storylines, alongside engaging bonus features.

And despite not being known for highly volatile games, there’s still the chance to rake in some substantial wins.

At the time of writing, there were 62 titles in Quickspin’s library, 57 of them available via mobile, with a dozen releases planned for 2020.

Here are just some of the operator’s most popular titles:

More recent slot titles from Quickspin include:

  • Razortooth: This high-volatility slot is set in a prehistoric world and features a unique re-spin mechanic
  • Sakura Fortune: This medium-volatility slot is inspired by Japanese culture and features a beautiful art style
  • Temple Tumble: This medium-volatility slot features a unique cascading reels mechanic that can lead to some big wins
  • Golden Glyph: This high-volatility slot is inspired by ancient Egypt and features a number of bonus features, including free spins and multipliers

The gaming experience

Achievement Awards

Under this system, you earn tokens just for playing your favourite slots! You can then use them to buy into a bonus game from any of Quickspin’s participating slots. The progressive scheme has four levels, with increasing awards.

Equally, an Achievement Race allows casinos to organise tournaments based around one or several slots, adding a further layer of fun.

Challenges

This seasonally themed loyalty tool is an immersive, engaging mini game sitting above the Quickspin game grid.

Flexible free rounds

This is a promotional tool to allow players to experience a game for free, with their preferred stakes. The casino decides which players qualify, for which games, and the price.

The feature trigger

This is another promo tool, giving players the chance to experience any of Quickspin’s slots’ free spins bonus rounds.

Any downsides?

There are always going to be one or two, so we feel bound to point out:

  • The relatively low number of releases compared with some of Quickspin’s competitors
  • The comparatively small number of high-variance games – if volatility is what you prize above all else, you may need to look elsewhere
  • You won’t find much here apart from slots, high-quality those these are – again, if you want a break from spinning those reels, again Quickspin won’t really be able to help

Summing up

There’s no denying these guys have an excellent eye for what the player actually wants. And, as a still relatively youthful business, Quickspin has made a significant impact quickly in an intensely competitive marketplace.

Open a Quickspin game and you know you’re in for an innovative, high-quality experience, complete with stunning artwork and animation. So it’s hardly surprising that a fresh release from the operator (typically a new title is launched roughly monthly) has become something of an industry event.

Give a few of their games a try – and see how you get on.
