The Premier League is the most popular and competitive football division in the world. Millions of people around the globe watch it, and many of them love nothing more than placing bets on English football’s top flight because it adds another layer of excitement to proceedings.
It’s fair to say that EPL betting markets have always been favoured by betting fans. This is probably because there’s so much variety provided, from outright markets to pre-match and in-play betting. Here are some of the most popular markets for this stage in the season.
Next manager to leave
The season is well underway now, and there are murmurings surrounding the future of several managers in the Premier League. It’s usually at this stage that the pressure mounts, and placing a bet on which boss will depart next is popular.
👉 Both Southampton (4 points/11 matches) and Wolves (6 points/11 matches) are at the bottom of the table, so their bosses, Russell Martin and Gary O’Neil, are under fire. However, our pick would be Julen Lopetegui at West Ham to leave post next.
The Hammers just haven’t got going, and Lopetegui’s style isn’t working.
To be relegated
The above market often ties into the to be relegated market, where you can place bets on a team or teams to be relegated from the Premier League this season. Right now, you can’t look beyond both Southampton and Wolves. They’re already in a terrible situation.
There are still 27 odd games to be played at the time of writing, so there is a lot of football to play. Right now, Southampton and Wolves wouldn’t represent value. So our tips would be Crystal Palace, who look devoid of confidence now they don’t have Michael Olise to call on.
And Leicester City, who are doing ok but could slip down the league.
Top four finish
In recent years, it has been relatively easy to select the teams that will finish in the Premier League’s top four. But things have started to change on this front, and we’re seeing teams such as Aston Villa get into the mix, and rightfully so.
👉 The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are almost certain to be in the top four, so the question is which team will join them.
Aston Villa are in with a great chance to make it back to back top four finishes, but we're going with Brighton, as they’re not playing in Europe and have a more advantageous schedule. They’re flying high in the league already.
Top goalscorer
Since he arrived in the Premier League, Erling Haaland has taken goalscoring in the Premier League to another level. He’s already out in front this season, with ten goals from seven outings, and he’s the favourite as always to win the Golden Boot in 2024/25.
However, Mo Salah is still plugging away, scoring regularly, Popular Bets for the Premier League. He’d be our choice in terms of opposing Haaland, and Brighton’s Danny Welbeck is up there, too.
