The Hackwood Stakes is a Group 3 race that takes place on the flat course each year at Newbury. Horses that are at least three years old can race, with a handicap system being in place. There is a prize on offer of £60,000 and it has been a Group 3 race since 2006. It usually takes place in July on the Summer Festival meeting’s second day of racing.
There is little to no draw bias to talk about and the turns are nice and gradual, so a sharp turn of foot is not necessary. Good gallopers tend to perform well here, particularly when the going is not too soft in the summer months.
