While still carrying a fine traditional winter schedule, Plumpton Racecourse does very well to put on race days when the sun is shining and that includes their Ladies Day every May.
Given the theme of the day, it goes without saying that all the usual Champagne, hats, dresses, competitions and posing for photographs is fully on, but the action on the track is not overlooked here either.
A seven-race card is well supported by trainers and jockeys alike, Gary and Joshua Moore, Dan Skelton and Bryony Frost being just some of the star names to have registered wins on this card in recent times.
The main event is the £10,000 Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle, the culmination indeed of the Racing Excellence Series, run over a trip of just over 2½ miles.
Other races backing up the feature are the Maiden Hurdle, two Handicap Hurdles, a couple of Handicap Chases and a good National Hunt Flat Race (Bumper) to finish the card.
