The Sussex Stakes is a Group 1 race that has been taking place since 1841 and is a Group 1 race. Horses that are at least three years old are able to enter and it takes place over one mile.
This race normally is part of the second day of racing at the Glorious Goodwood meeting at the close of July or the beginning of August. It is now the standout race as part of the racing season at Goodwood. Runners battle it out for a prize pool of more than £1 million, with the winner getting nearly £600,000.
Only one horse has managed to win this race on two occasions, with Frankel doing so in 2011 and 2012. This is a very tricky track, so an experienced jockey will be crucial in addition to having a quality horse underneath him or her.
