The Towton Novices’ Chase is a Grade 2 National Hunt race that is open for horses that are at least five years old to enter. It takes place at Wetherby and there are nineteen fences in total that need to be considered. It usually will take place at the end of January or in the beginning months of February. It has been running since 1996 and the very first winner of this race, Mr Mulligan then went on to claim the Cheltenham Gold Cup the following year.
For picking out a potential winner at the Towton Novices’ Chase, a good combination of speed and stamina is needed. The fences aren’t the toughest, but solid jumps are still needed.
