The Vintage Stakes is a Group 2 race that has been running since 1975 at Goodwood. It allows two-year-olds only to enter and it takes place over seven furlongs. It is usually part of the race meeting at the end of July or start of August. There is a handicap system in place and the prize pool is usually £200,000, with the winner getting about £113,000.
It has been a Group 2 race since 2003 and a lot of winners of the Vintage Stakes have gone on to win one of the Classics races the next year. The last horse to do so was Galileo Gold in 2016 when he went on to win the 2000 Guineas.
