Description
Featuring four rows and 40 unchangeable Paylines across five reels, Gunsmoke slot from 2 by 2 Gaming is inspired by the long-running TV and radio series of the same name set in the Old West, which broadcast for two decades from 1955.
Given that the show ended so long ago, it’s unsurprising that this game has a strongly retro vibe going on, with a comic-book appearance.
Honed very much in the spirit of the Wild West, it all takes place in Dodge City and it’s a classic tale of sheriff against outlaw. Expect plenty of gunslinging action!
How to play
Start spinning (or should that be shooting?) from 0.40 a pop. Symbols are, as you’d expect, all related to the theme and include characters from the show like Marshall Dillon, his sidekick Festus and love interest Miss Kitty, alongside a sheriff’s badge and a spittoon. Accompanying these are the usual lesser-paying card symbols, here looking suitably grimy.
The principal character icons can take up a couple of vertical positions apiece, and both Kitty and Dillon shell out for a pair of icons on a single Payline.

Wanted posters advertising various multipliers sit atop each reel. Every time the Wild displays, one is chosen at random and applied to any win. And the good news is that if the poster over Reel 3 is selected, that whole reel then turns Wild.
Card Table Feature
Get at least a hat trick of the card table Scatters wherever you like on the reels and Marshall Dillon chooses one of these rounds for you to have a crack at, both offering some pretty decent potential:
- Shootout bonus: You can win up to 15 free whirls here. From the dozen playing cards displayed, choose between three and five depending on how many symbols triggered the bonus. Find matching cards to land up to half a dozen more free spins. Finally, a stacked Wild on Reel 3 is effective for the duration of the feature.

This is certainly one of the busier-looking games, with lots going on, and a soundtrack which some reviewers have described as rather shrill. But it’s definitely worth checking out given how often the bonus rounds seem to kick in.
Its design may not be the most exciting you’ll ever see, but Gunsmoke slot has a lot to offer anyway, even if the original show was way before your time and the characters are not familiar.
