Description
She’s back with a vengeance! Her first outing was in 2004, although the character dates back much earlier. Now, she hits the reels once more in Lara Croft Temples and Tombs Slot from Microgaming.
Played on a 5×3 grid, with a hefty 243 ways to win, the May 2019 title is Lara’s third slot adventure, and it has won warm praise from reviewers for its enhanced graphics and features.
The setting is the Temple of Riches, and there’s a murky stone wall background lit by torches, suggesting an underground location. Your task is to make your way through obstacles and puzzles to discover the golden tomb’s deepest secrets.
How to play
Prices per whirl in Lara Croft Temple and Tombs kick off from just 20p a pop – on your device of choice. Symbols are carved into slabs and include hooks, water bottles and satchels among the less rewarding icons, with Lara Croft emblems the most rewarding. Other higher payers include Sobek the alligator deity.
Land five of the symbols showing Lara’s face and you have the game’s highest-paying scoop, at 50x original wager.
The Rolling Reels mechanics in Temples and Tombs means that when you score a hit, the icons which created it vanish to be replaced by fresh ones. What’s more, a multiplier is involved, which goes each time you bag a new winning combo, up to the maximum of 5x.
Lara Croft Temple and Tombs slot special features
Special symbols

Bonus features

Every free spin where a 15x multiplier applies can potentially win you up to 7,343x stake.

They are fixed, i.e. not progressive, and work as follows:
- Minor pays out at 15x stake
- Major pays out at 100x stake
- Grand pays out at 5,000x stake
Return to Player (RTP)
Return to Player is a respectable 96.05% here. Volatility is high, so Tombs and Temples is if for you if you like a high-stakes affair, and view risk accordingly.
Verdict
Many reviewers clearly see Temples and Tombs an improvement on the previous couple of Lara games, which (whisper it low) are arguably starting to look a tad dated.
Indeed, the visuals are truly awesome. Equally, the use of the Rolling Reels feature makes a significant difference, and Temples and Tombs is a smart choice if you like to keep play nice and simple.
Finally, of course, you’ll love that hat-trick of great jackpots. It’s true, however, that features are thin on the ground, with the notable exception of the free spins game.
Give it a whirl for yourself, and see how you get on.
