References to blackjack can be found in literature dating back to the seventeenth century, and it’s incredibly popular. In fact, it’s the world’s most widely played casino banking game.
This comparing card game is for up to seven players plus the dealer, with players competing against the dealer, rather than against each other.
Live Blackjack is a sought-after option from 888 Games, with the action streamed smoothly and in full HD to your device of choice (including a mobile one). There are five tables to choose from.
The expert dealers are there to help, and you can talk to them via the live chat facility. You can also easily switch to a new game when you wish. Just click the icon for the table you want to play at.
How to play
Aim to get a hand that’s higher than the dealer without going over 21. The best hand is a blackjack, in which the sum of the first two cards dealt is precisely 21. You play with eight standard 52-card decks.
Make an initial bet before two cards each are dealt to you and the dealer. Both face up, but the dealer’s second card faces downwards. Your initial hand’s value is shown next to your cards. Next, choose from the following:
- Hit to receive an additional card
- Stand to receive no extra cards
- Split to split the cards
- Double Down to automatically double your initial bet
Once your hand is dealt, the result is presented. If at any time during the game you or the dealer goes over 21, that’s an automatic loss on that hand.
If the dealer’s upcard is an Ace, you can buy insurance to offset the risk that they could have a blackjack.
- Cards from 2 – 10: face value
- Jacks, queens and kings: 10 each
- Aces: 1 or 11, whichever is more favourable to the hand
Live Blackjack special features
This is a live casino game, so there aren’t any bonus rounds in Live Blackjack.
As with most games like this, you won’t find any progressive jackpots here.
This shows the maximum and minimum stakes permitted at the table. Just hover your cursor over them for more detailed information.
Alongside your main bets, you can place a couple of optional side bets – Perfect Pairs and 21+3. And you can win on these regardless of any later wins or losses on your main bet.
Perfect Pairs is a win if your first two cards create any pair, while the 21+3 bet means you win if your first two cards and the dealer’s upcard constitute any of the winning combos described in more detail here.
