Description
Power Plant is a slot from Stockholm-based Yggdrasil Gaming that plays on an unconventional 8×5 grid with a hefty 82 Paylines. As the title suggests, the game takes power plants as its theme. (That may not sound an obvious choice for a slot, but in fact, it’s done very well here.)
Visually, you’ll see all the attention to detail in this spring 2017 release that’s so typical of this operator, making it a futuristic treat of a game.
Reels spin inside a dark-blue beam of light in the middle of a futuristic lab full of complicated controls and strange screens – there’s also a great, upbeat backing track to enjoy.
How to play
This is a mobile-friendly slot thanks to its portrait mode, so play on your favourite device, whenever and wherever you like.
Set your bets as you normally would – Max Bet, Spin and Autoplay options are all on offer as usual.
The game incorporates half a dozen regular icons, each one in a different colour and symbolising a separate type of power – fire, wind, lightning, nuclear, water and (perhaps somewhat oddly) a leaf. All have the ability to appear stacked.
Power Plant Slot special features
Special symbols
The Wild is a yellow W, and it rocks up on the reels stacked. As ever, it replaces other symbols, and if it is fully stacked (i.e. across all eight fields of any given reel), you’ll get a respin.
Bonus features
Wild respins
Activate this perk, which crops up with pleasing regularity, whenever you scoop a minimum of one complete stack of Wilds on any given reel.
Your reward is a free respin with between two and four bonus perks thrown in, according to the number of triggering stacks. Your original stack of Wilds stays fixed in place for the respin.
Extras will be picked at random and can include:
- Swapping symbols: Once the spin has finished, three to five matching icons will be added for a guaranteed win
- Super stack: A regular icon gets chosen to become an extra-long stack
Nudge reels: Up to four nudges are applicable following the spin to create the optimum win
- Active Wild: A regular symbol is picked as an additional Wild
- Extra bonus feature: This adds an additional perk (but your maximum is four)
Jackpot
There is a top non-progressive prize here of a thousand coins.
Return to Player (RTP)
RTP or Return to Player is a solid 96.1%. The hit rate is a healthy 29% or almost one in three.
Verdict
We should warn you that you may find Power Plant Slot addictive! It’s not complicated, but it plays slightly differently to other slots, so may just take some getting used to. Additionally, especially if you’re quite new to playing slots, be warned that the pace is brisk in this game.
While cropping up fairly often, the bonus round doesn’t last as long as some players may be used to, so do be prepared for that, too. Equally, there’s no free spins round.
