Summer 2020 release Runner Runner Megaways Slot is a StakeLogic game, played across a six-reel layout plus between two and seven rows, and as many as 117,659 Paylines (but at least 64).
It’s a continuation of the operator’s Runner series of games. But the big difference with this version is that it incorporates the hugely popular Megaways mechanic that’s the brainchild of Big Time Gaming.
This is essentially a random reel modifier which alters how many symbols display on every reel from any one spin, potentially providing up to hundreds of thousands of ways of winning.
Graphics here are decidedly old-school. The reels are set within a physical machine, itself set in an actual slots hall. And the soundtrack is suitably retro, with plenty of beeps and the like.
How to play
Play from 0.10 to 20 a pop, double if you use the Super Stake option outlined below.
As we said, this game recreates a classic fruity, so expect symbols accordingly.
There’s a veritable fruit bowl of symbols, including cherries, plums, pears, oranges, grapes, melons and strawberries, alongside bells, 7’s and the most lucrative emblem, the star. (It’s worth 60x wager.) Wins need three icons in a row, apart from the star, which pays out for just two in a line.
There’s a cascade mechanic at play here meaning that, after a win, contributing icons vanish to be replaced with fresh ones which come tumbling down to fill the vacant spots and boost your chances of winning. And this keeps happening until there are no further winning combos.
Runner Runner Megaways Special Features
Runner Runner Megaways Slot does feature Wild symbols, the Bar, in Super Stake mode, as mentioned below. The game also has a Scatter, a crown.
You’ll need four Scatters wherever you like on the reels to start this one. Four will earn you eight free turns. Scoop an extra five for every additional Scatter won.
The win multiplier that’s in play here starts at 1x and rises by +1 for each cascade.
You can extend this feature by retriggering the round.
This is launched with three Scatters, two during the freebies round. Reels with Scatters stay in place as the others go through a respin – the process continues until no further Scatters rock up.
Super Stake Feature
This is currently part of most StakeLogic slots. Activate it to have Bar Wilds added to the reels, in return for double your stake.
This is a simple coin toss affair in which you can try to double your winnings on up to five consecutive attempts. But lose and you’ve blown the lot.
With no progressive jackpot here, the maximum win is 473.074.
Return to Player
Return to Player or RTP is set in this game at 95.99%, i.e. slightly below the industry average. But that’s usually the way when volatility is ramped up – and this is indeed a very high-variance game. Patience will be needed, and you shouldn’t expect to win on every turn of the reels.
Runner Runner Megaways Slot will appeal if you are a fan of the classic fruit machine, or indeed the earlier outings of this series. And the Megaways mechanic is clearly something which makes the game stand out.
However, it’s not over-laden with myriad features, and the old-style graphics may not be for everyone. Equally, some reviewers have remarked that, apart from the Megaways element, not much that’s startlingly new has been added.
But give it a go and see what you think! Remember to let us know how you got on.
