Released back in August 2019, Sinbad’s Odyssey Slot is a game from Malta-based developer Swintt. It plays on a 5×3 grid with only 10 Paylines, all of which are fixed. And the good news is that, in this game, Paylines pay out both ways – i.e. from left to right and vice versa.
Sinbad is, of course, the sailor and hero of The Thousand and One Nights, whose adventures took place across seven voyages. Here, you can join him and his merry band of mariners as they travel the world looking for treasure. Help Sinbad use his golden compass and access a promised land of bonus features.
Action takes place at sea under a cobalt sky with puffy white clouds and the colour palette uses a lot of gold and primary colours. Reels are set against the wooden panelling of a ship’s cabin.
How to play
Prefer to let the reels do their thing without manual input? Set up Autoplay for between 10 and 500 spins, allowing you to just kick back and watch the reels turn.
Sinbad himself is the highest payer and the only symbol paying in both directions; bag the top prize when you land a table full of these emblems. (He appears stacked; there are five of him, each one occupying a full reel. Again, he is the only symbol to do this). Otherwise, winning combos work from left to right, and the highest combo per Payline pays out each time.
Other symbols in the Paytable include a pair of crossed scimitars, telescopes, giant whales and the columns of an ancient building. These are joined on the reels by the usual, less lucrative playing-card values.
Otherwise, all the usual game functions and controls are present and correct here.
Sinbad’s Odyssey Slot Special Features
The Scatter works independently from Paylines and is the golden compass icon. There’s also a Wild, a red-sailed ship viewed through a porthole-style frame. It does its usual job of substituting for other symbols, bar the Scatter.
This works as follows – Swintt also calls free spins feature games:
- Three Scatters – win 10 free spins
- Four Scatters – win 25 free spins
- Five Scatters – win 100 free spins
Feeling lucky? After you’ve won a round, you can bet your most recent winnings. Just hit the Risk button.
There’s also a double-or-nothing card game for winnings from your latest spin, in which you need to predict card colour correctly. RTP is cranked up to 100% for this feature.
There is no progressive jackpot in Sinbad’s Odyssey Slot. Instead, the maximum win is 1,000x stake for the full-table Sinbad mentioned above.
Return to Player
RTP or Return to Player starts from 95.2%, so it’s a shade below the industry norm. You’ll find it’s a mid-variance offering.
The colourful design in Sinbad’s Odyssey Slot displays some nice attention to detail. As with many other slots from this operator, it’s a pretty simple offering, so you can just get spinning and enjoy it right away. But it’s not exactly feature-heavy. So if you want more bells and whistles, you may well need to look elsewhere.
Take it for a whirl yourself – and let us know how you get on.
