Hertha BSC is a football club that is found in the locality of Berlin and the team plays in the Bundesliga. It has been in existence since 1892 and was one of the founding members of the German Football Association in 1900.

History of Hertha BSC
1892
Hertha BSC was started in 1892 when it was named BFC Hertha 92, with the name coming from a local smokestack. The club won a couple of national championships back to back in 1930 and 1931.
It was during this period that it got to the final of the German championship on six consecutive occasions.
Due to the split in Berlin after the Second World War, there was a lot of disruption in the football space. While the club had supporters in both West and East Berlin, a lot of people from East Berlin struggled to support the team as it was very dangerous.
1963
Hertha BSC was one of the founding members of the Bundesliga in 1963 as the club was the Berlin champion that given year. The team was relegated after the 1965 season after trying to bribe players to play for them as a result of the difficulties relating to the erection of the Berlin Wall.
1970s
The club managed to claw its way back and finished runner-up in the Bundesliga in the early 1970s, as well as getting to the semi-final of the UEFA Cup.
1889 onwards
It was in 1989/1990 that the club won the Bundesliga 2 title, also winning this in 2011 and 2013. Over recent years, there has been a constant battle with relegation and promotions between the top two tiers. In November 2019, former national team manager and player Jurgen Klinsmann took charge of Hertha BSC but left the club 76 days later.

Hertha BSC has been playing its game at the Olympiastadion since 1963, with this venue having originally been built for the Summer Olympics in 1936.
