Description
With 40 set-in-stone Paylines and 15 individual reels in a 5×3 layout, attention-grabbing Barber Shop Uncut is powered by respected Scandinavian operator Thunderkick.
It offers an unusual line-up of extras incorporating everything from up to 30 free spins (with all wins tripled) to locked symbols, respins and a quirky little perk called Inwinity. Think a facial hair theme, cartoon-style visuals and barber’s tool symbols. (Although, sadly, it can’t offer you an actual haircut!)
And, in case you’re wondering, yes, it does replace the original (popular but now discontinued) 24-Payline Barber Shop game, revamped but using similarly cute graphics. So sit back in the barber’s chair, relax and watch the world go by! (The shadows moving past the windows give a real sense of life going on outside.)
What’s more, there are some great chances here for serious big-money payouts.
How to play
Enjoy this game on desktop or your mobile device of choice, from 10p a whirl (an absolute snip!) to a hefty £100 a pop, with Thunderkick’s trademark catering for both low and high rollers. Set your bets in the usual way and then spin manually or with Autoplay to turn those reels without interruption for thousands of times.
The game’s 10 symbols are familiar to anyone who has ever stepped inside a barber’s shop and include razors, foam, shaving brushes, customers, combs and scissors. A blonde chap (the barber himself) is the most lucrative icon; land three, four or five of him on a single Payline to win 15, 30 or 150x stake.
Special features
Special symbols
There are no Wilds or Scatter symbols in Barber Shop Uncut, but there are bonus symbols. These are simply a red and white barber’s pole with the word bonus in block capitals.
Respins feature
You play this when any win involves at least three of the bonus symbols. The symbols contributing to the combo stay locked in place with the help of a circle of shaving foam, while the other reels respin. From each new spin, you have repeated chances to win. The feature carries on until no fresh wins are formed.
Bonus game feature
This is the main (or should we say mane?) attraction in Barber Shop Uncut.
Launch this when any win grants you a minimum of five bonus symbols. Kick off with 10 free goes, but get a further two with each extra bonus symbol landed, up to a maximum of 30. What’s more, for each win during the round, a fixed 3x multiplier applies. Nice!
Inwinity feature
This is another great little extra – trigger it when you’ve played out all free spins in the bonus feature described above. It essentially means you carry on getting unlimited free spins until you land a winning combo, making sure that you end the feature on a high.
Return to Player (RTP)
RTP or Return to Player is a tad higher in Barber Shop Uncut than similar Thunderkick games, at 97%, and this is a medium variance game. There’s a hit frequency of 22.5%.
Verdict
Industry reviewers have praised the design and graphics of this game. It’s not a hard one to understand, and you should find enough here to sustain interest. While hairdressers and beauty salons have previously been explored as slot themes, barber’s shops are a touch more unusual.
What’s more, there’s even a catchy soundtrack too. There are few close shaves – instead, you’ll find Thunderkick’s got it all cut and dried here! Give it a go — and share your thoughts — or visit Roger.com for more online games.
