From Down Under developer ReelPlay, Odin Infinity Reels Megaways is the third in this operator’s Infinity Reels series. Like the other two before it, it takes a fantasy and history theme, here transporting players to the world of Odin, King of Asgard from Norse legend.
It uses the operator’s own Megaways engine. This mechanic sees each reel hold a random number of symbols to massively increase the number of ways to win up to potentially 117,649.
With the Infinity Reels concept, you keep adding an unlimited number of reels by creating and extending winning combos, pushing the screen continually to the right. Here, the addition of Infinity Reels also means no limit to the number of Megaways which can come into play.
The default number of reels, however, is three to kick off with, and there are between two and five rows.
This is quite a serious, brooding game, reflected in the design, so don’t expect cartoon-style fun here – instead, it’s all set in a beautifully drawn mountain valley.
How to play
The minimum bet in Odin Infinity Reels Megaways is 0.30 and the maximum is 12. Form winning combos on neighbouring reels with three of the same symbols.
Land a winning combo and a new reel is added under the Infinity Reels mechanism – this happens with each fresh win until no more appear. Equally, a x1 multiplier applies, increased by a factor of 1 upwards as each fresh reel is added.
The symbols are just as gorgeously designed as the background – there are half a dozen runes, as well as ravens, wolves and a horse with eight legs. Odin himself, the god of poets and the great magician among the deities, and with a white, flowing beard, is your highest payer.
Odin Infinity Reels Megaways Special Features
Your Wild is the enigmatic Valknut symbol of three interlocking triangles (here seen in shiny gold) that features in Norse mythology. As ever, it replaces other emblems, but not the Scatter, which is Gungnir, Odin’s spear.
Any win involving a Scatter activates this round. You’ll see a couple of wheels. The first bestows eight, 10 or a dozen freebies, while the other chooses one of four free spins levels for the round. Each level decides by how much your multiplier will increase each time a new reel gets added. Level 1 sees a 1x increase, Level 4 a 4x rise and so on.
The bonus can be retriggered, as long as you keep adding Scatters.
Win a jackpot worth 888x wager when a dozen or more reels are added off a spin. Sound easy? Well, it only happens once every 63,323 whirls, so don’t get too excited.
Return to Player
Volatility in this game is very high. Nonetheless, RTP or Return to Player remains decent enough, at 96.18%, with a hit frequency of 1 in 3.56. You’ll need to be patient while awaiting the bigger wins.
Of course, Norse gods have featured in previous slots quite heavily. But Odin Infinity Reels Megaways is well done and exciting enough to stand out in a crowded marketplace. Its two mechanics work well together, and the game had broadly gone down well with reviewers, while visuals are superior to the previous two games in the series.
