About Sky Bet
A trusted brand, with a strong TV advertising platform, Sky Bet is the award-winning sports betting division of Sky Betting & Gaming, offering betting online, by phone or via mobile apps and Sky TV.
The history of Sky Bet
In 2000, BskyB, a previous name for Sky UK, took over a small online betting firm, Surrey Sports, before rebranding it in 2002 as Sky Bet. The name remains but Sky sold 80% of its stake to CVC Capital Partners in 2014. Sky Betting & Gambling was sold to The Stars Group in 2018.
Racing and football focus
Given the close ties with Sky Sports, Sky Bet carries a wide range of markets.
Its sports are listed A – Z on the left-hand side of the screen, from American Football to Yachting. But its main focus is on football and horse racing – hardly surprising given Sky Sports’ Premier League coverage.
Competitive odds & in-play options
Reviewers have praised this provider’s competitive in-market value for odds. Indeed, Sky Bet often offers the industry-best price at any given event.
Equally, this operator offers best guaranteed odds on all UK and Irish racing meets. And the Bet and Watch options means you can have a punt and then watch a live stream of the race. (Although racing is the only sport offered as a live stream.)
There’s also a focus on live in-play betting on football. What’s more, the brand makes this side of things straightforward and simple, with no flashy graphics.
