Description
Another terrific version of blackjack to have hit the market is Match Play 21.
Here, eight decks are used with tens removed from each pack. This leaves 48 cards per pack, much like in Spanish 21, and gives us an incredibly different and brilliantly entertaining form of the game to enjoy via desktop or mobile.
How to play
With tens removed, there are 48 cards in each deck with eight decks used in total. During Match Play 21, the dealer is required to shuffle as per normal and then play through all the cards in the shoe.
How to Play Match Play 21
Match Play 21 is all about strategy, and we can help you out with what to do to ensure you are maximising your returns in this game.
When you play this form of blackjack, make sure that you split twos and threes whenever the dealer shows an up card of 8 or less.
You should ensure that you split 8’s in all cases, other than when the dealer is showing an ace. This, statistically, will help you along, as will splitting when dealt two 6’s as long as the dealer has a 4, 5 or 6 on show.
Always split 9’s apart from when the dealer has a 2, 7, an ace or a card of 10 value, while your aces should be split at all times.
In terms of knowing when to double down, always do so in Match Play 21 when these things happen:
- When you are holding a hard 9 while the dealer is showing a 6
- When you are holding a 10-value card but the dealer has 2 through to 8
- When you have a soft 15 and the dealer is showing a 6
- When you have a soft 16 and the dealer is showing a 5 or 6
- When you have 17 or 18 and the dealer is showing a 4, 5 or 6
Surrendering can also be done successfully in Match Play 21. Most players don’t like to surrender at all, but here it is a good longer-term strategy.
Try to remember that surrendering is good if you are holding a hard or soft 16, as long as the dealer is showing an ace. As well as this, you can surrender when you are holding a hard 17 when the dealer has an ace on show. These simple tips will ensure you get the best returns possible from a session of Match Play 21.
Return to Player
As with most types of blackjack on the market, you can find RTP’s of around 99.5% online. This is a great figure, but it is an average and so your own returns will differ.
