Mighty Arthur from Stockholm-based Quickspin is a five-reel video slot which comes with 20 Paylines. Taking a medieval/fantasy theme, it’s based on the ancient legend of King Arthur, the Excalibur sword and the monarch’s many adventures with the wizard Merlin.
A lush forest background can be seen in the background against the gold-framed transparent reels, while the design, graphics and sound effects are everything fans have come to expect from the Swedish gaming studio.
How to play
Place your wagers in the normal fashion, decreasing or increasing them using the Total Bet button. The standard Spin and Autoplay functions are also both here, and you can play on any device you like from a mere 20p a spin.
The set of symbols on the reels encompasses the standard 10 through A lower playing-card values, alongside goblets, spell books, helmets, a red-headed queen and two Wilds.
Mighty Arthur Slot special features
There are two Wilds to be found in Mighty Arthur, one random and one expanding.
The expanding Wild (Arthur himself) replaces all icons, the random Wild all bar the bonus Scatter symbol (the crown). Arthur expands to 3×1 in size, and he will only show up on Reel 3, either in the bonus or base games, growing in size as he does so to cover the neighbouring Reels 2 and 4.
Meanwhile, the random Wild is Merlin, who is also 3×1 in size. The wizard can rock up on all reels in the bonus round and main game, as described below.
Free spins round
This is the highlight of Mighty Arthur. Land three bonus Scatter crowns at the same time, one each on reels 1, 3 and 5, to play it. You’ll rake in 10 free whirls, although the downside is this perk can’t be retriggered. However, both Wilds can show up on every freebie.
Merlin Random Wilds perk
Merlin the sorcerer displays on any reel to generate between two and six extra Wilds, which are then added to the reels at random. If Merlin lands on multiple reels, your whole screen becomes filled up with Wilds.
Sadly, you won’t find a progressive jackpot here. However, the top non-progressive prize is a tidy 150 coins.
Return to Player (RTP)
In terms of volatility, Mighty Arthur falls on the higher side of medium, and the good news is that the wins can come pretty often. RTP or Return to Player here is a perfectly generous 96.94%.
This game is far from the only slot to have taken the famous sovereign as its theme, so Mighty Arthur may feel a tad generic. Yet it has the fine looks that are so typical of this operator, with a format that’s ‘back to basics’ rather than highly intricate. And it scores highly in the entertainment stakes while offering stacks of action as it captures a timeless adventure.
But the only you can decide whether it’s truly legendary and fit for a king! Give it whirl in free demo mode first of all before you spend any real money – and tell us what you think.
