Description
With 30 Paylines, four rows and five transparent reels, Spectra Slot is powered by Thunderkick, and set against a smart dark backdrop. It’s an intriguing blend of classic fruit-machine slot and neon-heavy visuals, all with a futuristic, even space-age feel. (Although this is perhaps the future as envisaged in the 1970s.)
In Spectra Slot, you won’t find any Scatters or free spins rounds. Instead, this game is all about the Wilds and respins – and you could bank 2,400x stake each time you spin the reels.
How to play
Kick-off by regulating your bets. There’s Thunderkick’s typically wide betting range here, from 10p to £100, and you can of course play on desktop or mobile. The usual Autoplay function is also here.
The neon-style icons on the reels include green squares, blue triangles and circles, red pentagon, purple diamonds and gold bells. Also in the rather traditional symbol, the line-up is clover, a lucky red 7 plus a white bar – which lands you 10x overall stake when you manage to bag five of them.
Spectra Slot special features
Special symbols
The Wild in this game is a neon-style letter W in a rainbow of colours. As ever, it serves as a replacement for any other symbol. But not only does it perform this function, but it’s also very special in this game, as described below.
The Wild displays stacked in groups of four. When you land five on one Payline, that’s 20x stake in the kitty.
Bonus features
Wild respins
Although Wilds always show up in stacks of four, you may not always land four in a stack –it depends on where the reel stops turning. So you could see between one and four, which is why there are four reels here, instead of the more usual three.
The appearance of a new Wild on your screen (even a single one) automatically entitles you to a respin, potentially rewarding you without the need to place any further bets.
While the respins happen, the Wilds stay in place on the reels, boosting your chances of winning on the free whirl.
Wild nudge feature
This was a regular element of many traditional casino slot games. It essentially just means that if one, two or three Wilds display on one reel, an arrow then shows where they’ll move to. So if, say, a single Wild pops up on the bottom row, it gets nudged up and you’ll see another Wild, too. Finally, a respin determines whether you get any further rewards.
Return to Player (RTP)
RTP or Return to Player is a shade higher here than for some of Thunderkick’s offerings and is a good average of 96.4%.
Verdict
Colourful Spectra offers the very high standard of design people have come to expect from this Scandinavian operator, with Thunderkick’s trademark quality graphics, complete with a series of beeps and bangs for an added sci-fi vibe. However, be warned it can feel a bit sparse if you’re a player who prefers having a lot of detail. So like all games, it won’t be for everyone.
But, equally, that suits the feel of this game to a T, and you’ll particularly have fun if you enjoy retro slots. Equally, Spectra Slot plays in a very smooth and streamlined way. What’s more, the two extra features that this game does have should pop up regularly enough to keep things interesting.
