Plumpton Anglo-Irish Raceday 2022

A popular meeting staged right on the eve of the Cheltenham Festival at the very business end of the National Hunt season, Plumpton’s Anglo-Irish Raceday is a six-race meeting featuring a £10,000 Class 3 Handicap Hurdle among other fairly high-profile events.

While being run a week or so before St Patrick’s Day with all the hilarity that brings to racecourses, the event acts as a teaser for the Irish holiday with oversized hats and pints of the black stuff very much the order of the day around the course.

As well as the feature race and all the associated non-racing entertainment provided, the Anglo-Irish Raceday contains competitive support races; a Novices’ Hurdle, Novices’ Handicap Chase, Mares’ Handicap Hurdle, Handicap Chase and the closing Handicap Hurdle.

At the 2020 meeting, jockey Joshua Moore was the star of the show after riding three winners, while the day also featured wins for stars of the game Bryony Frost and Will Kennedy proving the support this day gets.
